Graco Children's Products is recalling 1.2 million Harmony high chairs due to instability safety issues.  Graco is a unit of Newell Rubbermaid, Inc. (NWL, Fortune 500) and makes a variety of car seats, strollers, swings, and other products for children.  Reports indicate that the Harmony high chair is unstable and can tip over unexpectedly.  24 injuries have been reported with the Harmony high chair model.  The Harmony high chair model was produced from 2003 through 2009.  It sold for $70 to $120. The safety issue involves the screws holding the front legs of the high chair can loosen and fall out.  Further, the plastic bracket on the rear legs can fracture or crack, presenting a hazard to children.  These high chairs were sold at Target, Walmart, and Toys R Us.  Graco is recalling 35,000 high chairs in Canada in addition to those in the United States.  Graco is urging customers to discontinue use of the high chair and to order repair kits for free.

In January, Graco recalled 1.5 million strollers because of the risk of finger lacerations and amputations.  In November 2009, 635,000 cribs were recalled by Dorel Asia SRL and 2.1 million cribs were recalled from Stork Craft Manufacturing.  The federal authorities have said that these cribs present a risk of suffocation.
