Two Critically Injured in Lakeland Car Accident
Lakeland, Florida. A Bartow man, Richard Waters, 46, was arrested after leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injuries. The three car accident involved a mother and her 10 year old son. Amy Krupp, 30, of Lakeland, Florida, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Her son, Aaron Orr, was taken by ambulance to Tampa General Hospital where he remains in critical condition. The accident happened at about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 98 South near Illinois Avenue, just south of Combee Road. Before the accident with Krupp's Ford Fusion, a 2002 Red Dodge Ram driven by Joshua Moore, 21, of Bartow, Florida, and a 1997 GMC truck driven by Waters, were both traveling north on U.S. 98 when the trucks cut each other off. Both drivers appeared to have exchanged words or gestures and continued traveling north. As the trucks approached Illinois Avenue, the trucks collided. The impact forced Moore's truck off the road and into the path of Ford Fusion driven by Krupp, resulting in a nearly head-on collision. Krupp's vehicle then overturned and landed on its roof in a ditch. Both Krupp and her son were wearing their seatbelts. Moore was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Waters admitted driving the truck and being at the scene when the crash occurred.
