Apopka Car Accident Kills Two Drivers, Seriously Injures Passenger
This accident happened at approximately 11:15 p.m. as an unidentified 49-year-old man from Apopka, Florida was driving a Ford pickup truck south on Apopka Vineland Road. 18-year-old Chelsea Rodriguez of Apopka, Florida was stopped at the stop sign on McCormick Road at its intersection with Apopka Vineland Road. It was reported that Rodriguez make a left turn into the path of the Ford Pickup truck. There is a stop sign on McCormick Road but not on Apopka Vineland Road. Rodriguez was driving a Honda Pilot SUV and was struck in the driver door. The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire. Both drivers killed in the accident. Rodriguez was carrying 18-year-old Alexandria Price of Davenport, Florida at the time of the crash. Price is listed in serious condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center. This accident is still under investigation.
This Central Florida car accident is a tragedy for all involved. Notwithstanding, the at-fault driver or owner of a motor vehicle has an obligation to pay damages to those injured or killed by negligence. In this instance, there may or may not be a separate owner. Thus, it appears that the unidentified man and the passenger have claims against Rodriguez's estate. Whatever the limits are, this appears to be a limits case. However, my particular concern is for the seriously injured passenger. The insurance proceeds will likely not cover all of her medical bills and/or liens. Many people do not know that health insurance must be repaid from a third party personal injury settlement and have a lien or subrogated interest against the recovery. A Central Florida personal injury or car accident lawyer can help with this scenario.
